What I dislike about WoC is it killed my enthusiasm for the game. I finished HM last night, today I was going to play Sorrow Furnace on another character. So stupid Ozar got himself killed by charging off while I was getting my drops. So back Warcamp when I was getting ready to start over I decided that it would be more fun to clean the bathroom instead, even after I caught my finger on an edge and was bleeding, I still would rather clean (and QQ about it here : ) than play GW.

Some of the dialogue. As a character I have really killed thousands of other characters, if not tens of thousands.
The fact that you really have a choice at one stage that has some consequences on the rest of the tale. Pity it's an almost irrelevant choice.
The difficulty of certain quests is good.
Some quests that do nothing except tell story. Story-oriented, not action-oriented, gameplay I find appealing
The fact that the battlegrounds are outposts. I like that, even if Kaineng Center can be a bit hard to move around in (and there are curiously no commoners around).
One quest, There Goes The Neighbourhood, was specifically designed to be easy to play. Mobs follow one another in quick succession, no need to run from one corner of the map to another.
HM and NM quests have some slight differences, making them a little less tedious.
3rd Rit! That closes a lot of the gap between having mercenaries and not having mercenaries.
It's hilarious killing a clone of myself who uses You Move Like A Dwarf lol.
Dislikes -
Parts of the storyline is still nonsensical. Ashu speaks way too maturely for someone his age.
Seems like no attention was paid to some of the difficulty, making quests like When Kappa Attack HM one of the hardest in the game. I have no disagreement with difficult content, but they should be clearly labelled as so.
Last quest a bit anticlimatic. There is no chance of failure.
Cutscenes, but no voice

I thought so too, but someone was asking for help here on guru. I think if you don't kill the Reiko clones fast enough, they eventually overwhelm you (with help from the phantasms and ministry reinforcements).
I'm not sure how you fail it if you've beaten the rest of WoC, but it is possible.
I agree it was anticlimactic, though.

I just found a new like!
Raid on Kaineng Center (normal mode) can be completed just by entering the mission area. I was going to do this, and had just told Qao Lin to take me to the battle, when my phone rang. Went afk to answer it and when I got back to my PC an hour or so later, I saw my character standing in Kaineng Center with an unclaimed loot window and the quest completed. According to my /death counter I hadn't even died! Awesome!

Haven't initiated WoC - didn't like Cantha as it was, and all the reports of how WoC have changed the mobs to unbearable/unbeatable in places do not make me want to return.

woc hm
I know there are some posts on this but I think as an average player who has played this game for 5 years and am relatively good I need to have an honest say about this.
Woc is incredible fun however the HM version I give a big congratz to Anet for separating the boys from the men so too speak .I am so stuck on the quest Tracking the Corruption I have given up. 3 con sets , 3 tengu summonings and hrs of builds and I just cant do it.
This is for elite players and us average guys just need to stop winging and suck it up. Just like uw I cant complete that area alone without elite guys help for sure. A challenge is just that, a challenge, and I really thank anet for this as I have been so bored of late with nothing left to challenge me on , cept uw, that finnally they have brought to the game something amazing.
rewards are just that and if you cant do something why should you get the reward for it, keep trying till you can do it or hang up the boots and go do something else. I have look at all the posts about everyone whining about the end hero, and untill I even seen thouse posts I had no idea there was one, I just wanted the challenge of doing something fun and hard.
So too the average player this woc hm will test you till the end of your wits as it was designed to do. Keep trying or give up it isn't a big deal its just a game and I can see finnally content in this game that would challenge even the pros.
On one side note I would love to see a rework of possibly Sf or Spellbreker to help us average guys deal with the current buffs to ele's, but I know that won't happen, would be nice though lol
Cheers Phab

I agree fully. I just finished on one of my characters, and It took me almost 2 weeks. It's not designed to be rolled through with ease.

I disagree, I followed all those cheese AI tips and blew through the hard quests, even Warning the Angchu wasn't too bad since I used an MM with blood of the master so I had 10 minions lol.. all u gotta do is google search and you can find a way to do it. Maybe if I started before people found out all these tricks?
Tracking the corruption was quite difficult, but there are more difficult quests, I would say the hardest quests were
1. Warning the Angcu
2. Finding Jinnai
3. Tracking the corruption
rest were just hero way spank quests.
The monastery quest was the best, getting that chick drunk and throwing the molotovs around lol.

Another like:
Doing Free Birds and Light my Fire on HM at the same time. Pick up the angchu first, then collect 5 drakes before going to get the prisoners. Epic amounts of allies (tengu and drakes) and huge fights on the rooftops between ministry, am fah and jade brotherhood mobs.

i started WoC when all parts were here, so dunno where it started to be part 3, but what i do like, and forgot to tell
i LOVE the fact that you can revert cantha to its old self, and that the WoC affected areas wont always have the enemies from the quests (dunno if some do yet)
and i like the ministerial commendations dropping from some foes

For HM, th eonly quests I had difficulty with were
1. tracking corruption
2. raid on kaineng
3. raid on shing jea
The last 2 were relatively easy once I figured out how to approach them. Didn't even blow consumables or summons.

Im almost halfway into HM, only to get Zei Ri, just finished "What waits in shadow".
My main "dislike" so far is that due to the huge amounts of mobs, the pull-and-retreat strategy are making each quest a run of near 1 hour.
The overall difficulty is high, but so far acceptable. Its supposed to be Hard dont?
My main like is that WoC brought me back to play GW.

. . This^ It's not that the HM quests are incredibly hard, moreso that they can be very time consuming having to pull mob after mob, and some quests have many. WWIS alone took me about an hour in HM and maybe 15 mins or so in NM. I do like the extra challenge though and the rewards are often very worth it.

Uncertainty (Neither like nor dislike)-
- The fear that this is a small glimpse into what GW2 will revolve around as gameplay.

I'm not sure that you can say neither like nor dislike and then use the word 'fear' - inherently negative, I would say.
That said, I know what you mean.

Lol my exact thought...
Also I got the same feeling, but in my case it's more "luckily I wasn't buying it anyway"

I really like the crazy green combinations (shield that looks like a dagger, wand that looks like a sword, etc...). I like that the enemy forces change as you progress through the story (Afflicted --> Am Fah/Jade Brotherhood --> Ministry forces....) unlike War in Kryta. I LOVE the giant Afflicted; those where just awesome. Love my panda. Like a +20 enchanting multi-profession green reward weapon. I like how most of the missions are fairly forgiving for wipes (you can resurrect and try again). I like throwing Fire Bombs at giant mobs of Sensali.
I dislike that a lot of the missions are just kind of tedious (Rescue at Minister Cho's, What Waits in Shadow, and Architect of Corruption come to mind). I hate that killing an Afflicted Ritualist wipes my spirits and minions; seems kind of arbitrarily punitive. The final fight against Reiko is kind of.....meh. Hate that I'm stuck with an Assassin hero as my reward (really?) while the rit hero that I really want is going to be a massive PITA.

They added an NPC that reverts the spawns, so you can start WoC without fear of getting "stuck" with difficult mobs.

WoC HM has nothing to do with men or boys, elite or noob, skilled or unskilled. It's Build Wars in its most pure form so far. Like every other "elite" part of the game, it's completed not through skilled play but rather by countering situations with idealised hero set ups, sometimes luck and AI exploits.
I hated that I was missing out on a hero and some story elements so I dragged myself through HM from the very first quest (I don't enjoy it so I had no incentive to even start it prior to part three) and grinded my way through the entire thing. I didn't use consumables and I didn't use "skill", I exploited AI (used wall blocking/tanking strategies, pulled "must protect" mobs out of aggro range etc) and I ran counter builds to deal with the rediculous scenarios you constantly encountered. HM just pushes out viable builds and play styles and marignalises all the viable strategies. It wasn't harder, it just forced me to play how I didn't want to play.
People who complain about all the content is too easy are usually running consets, summoning stones and 7 hero player support, ursan, sabway, panic mesmers or whatever other flavour of the month meta builds are being used. HM should never be balanced with these people in mind for as long as they intend on offering unique rewards even NM players deserve access to.
I got Zei Ri and I only had trouble with about three quests, it didn't take me too long but I can't really say I "enjoyed" the challenge, I just wished I was able to bring the party set ups I enjoy bringing instead of having to optimise everything.

I'm in the final steps to get Zei Ri. I only need to do the last 2 quests.
So far, WoC HM has got me with mixed feelings.
Some quests are absurdly enervating, most notably that ones with " X must survive". Not only the major parts of these npcs are squishies, but also have tendency to go Leroy on a group of enemies 6 levels higher.
In other moments, I failed in a quest many times, using the same hero setup and strategies just to succeed "no sweat" in the same conditions on the next try. This leaves me thinking some random element on spawns - "luck" if you like the term - was crucial to my victory. Warning the Angchu is an example of this.
In other hand, it is kinda good the "adrenalin rush" that comes out of fighting and winning against all odds (Finding Jinai and Raid on Kaineng Center comes to my mind), it somehow rewards you a sense of real accomplishment, ya know?
